We are nonprofit organization that is responsible of leading action for the promotion of the region, together public and private organisms, for include tourism in the sectors that increase and promote the investment and development in Barranquilla and capital of Atlántico.
The Comité promotes the touristic in the national and international area with propose of increase the influx of visitors to our department. For that, develops programs of promote and marketing that contribute to the reinforcement of the touristic activity, industrial, of services, cultural, and sport, and participate in projects aimed to their strengthening and competitive development.

- 2. Attract more nationals and internationals tourists and travelers, of high-level, more stay of the visitants and friendly environment.
- 3. Lead the formalization, accreditation, growth and sustainability of the tourism sectors.
- 4. Lead develops of the Creative Territory Project.
Our Region
The Atlantic Department is located in the point of lowest seismicity in every Latin America, enjoying of the greater privileges on the Caribbean Sea, far of hurricanes, that lash the zone of hemisphere every year. The Atlantic has a 0, 29% of the Colombian geography, right in the center of the North Cost.
With an area of 3.388 square kilometers, The Atlantic Department is easy for visit. Their capital, Barranquilla, is an hour away by road from the others 22 municipalities that comprise it.
The department links with different ways, and is necessary the road transition between the cities Santa Marta and Cartagena and in the routes into the country and Venezuela.
Atlantic means water everywhere. The Caribbean Sea and the Magdalena River bordering the two-thirds.
Places of Interest
Salgar Castle
The building retains the features of the colonial architecture and is a true landmark. Formerly known as Fort San Antonio de Salgar, was built by the Spanish to control contraband coming into the region and which was then distributed into the country through the Magdalena River. This beautiful building, steeped in history, was also a strategic location at the time of Independence home, due to its unbeatable position.
West Salgar beaches, to 13.5 km 3 of Puerto Barranquilla and Colombia.
Totumo Volcano
The Totumo volcano is one of the gifts of nature in the Caribbean in the Atlantic. Inside of it, the mud is considered a source of health and life, where visitors are immersed to revitalize the mind, body and soul. It is surrounded by a number of ponds or pools of mud, which retain the same mineral properties that have made famous volcano nationally and internationally.
Municipality of Piojó, 70 km from Barranquilla, on one side of the "Via al mar" and next to the Totumo Swamp.
Puerto Velero
30 minutes from Barranquilla, this resort has become a modern and sophisticated tourist destination which provides swimmers not only the natural beauty of its landscape, but also comfort, order and the ideal place to pursue other activities along the Caribbean. On its beaches there is room for all kinds of fun.
In addition to enjoying the sun, the sea and the most exquisite food, this is the perfect setting for water sports such as kayak, jet skiing, kite surfing and windsurfing.

The house of the poet Julio Flórez
A comfortable and cool housing that is a museum today, and where you can find buried the remains of the poet. Still retains the architectural details of the time, as the freshness of the thatched roof, the original furniture of those times, and a romantic and melancholy ambiance that the poet gave to its foundations.

Island Salamanca Park
Island Salamanca Park (VIPIS) is located in the Caribbean region, more exactly 10 minutes from Barranquilla on the road to Santa Marta. The VIPIS has an area of 56,200 hectares, a condition that allows the visitor to have a close contact with the rich biodiversity that encloses this beautiful natural setting
This is one of the best places to observe birds and the rich ecosystem biodiversity.
Our City
Located on the west bank of the Magdalena River, a few kilometers of the mouth in the Caribbean Sea. Barranquilla is port for river, maritime, air, land, and for communications in Colombia, the capital city from the Atlántico Department, and traditional place of traders and adventurers from all over the world.
A few hours in car of Cartagena and Santa Marta, and some kilometers of distance of the best beaches and seaside from Colombia, and trees that cool the tropical environment of their neighborhoods and republic and modern mansions, Barranquilla is a happy city, their emblematic tree, is the oak tree, their flower, is the cayenne one, their bird, the owl one, and their temperature is around 28 degrees centigrade.
Amira de la Rosa Theater
Cultural epicenter of Barranquilla, located within the boundaries of El Prado neighborhood with the Abajo neighborhood(the river). In its modern exhibition it presents plays, art exhibitions, musical performances, and events of all kinds throughout the year. The curtain, which was painted by Alejandro Obregon, vibrant colors representing the legend of the alligator man in his 17 feet wide by 8 high.

Museum of Modern Art
Founded in 1996, is located in the renowned neighborhood of El Prado. Its collections include 280 recognized artists (collections of contemporary art). In this museum it is shown temporary exhibitions by renowned artists, tours, conferences, documentation center, children's workshops, special events, newspapers, annual art festival, and so on.

It is the first regional museum in the country. Its central theme is the Colombian Caribbean in its environmental, historical and sociocultural dimension. The Museum offers a space to strengthen the identity and the reconstruction of an imaginary region.
It features cultural events, historical memory of its people and encourages a reflection on the environment, territory and the importance of the latter in the development of the region.
It also emphasizes the dual membership of the region, both to Colombia and the Greater Caribbean Basin.

Built in 1919 by British architect Leslie Arbouin, the customs building represents the significance of the movement of import and export through the local port. For a long time it was abandoned, until its restoration in 1994. It runs the Caribbean Pilot Library, the Historical Archive of the Atlantic and Musical Documentation Centre Hans Federico Neuman.

Montoya Station
It is located next to the old Customs building. It's a beautiful building built in the late nineteenth century by the Railway and Pier Co. as a terminal for trains to communicate with the terminal Puerto Colombia and Barranquilla river. On one side of the complex lies today, restored, one of the old locomotive as a symbol of strength and progress of the people of Atlantico.

El Prado Neighborhood
Historical Heritage of the Nation, El Prado was designed in 1921 by the American brothers Karl and Robert Parrish, a modern complex with wide avenues, gardens and stately homes, which grew into the modern architecture and imposed a new way of conceiving the city. Its streets are decorated with oak and golden rain trees from the city.

Metropolitan Cathedral María Reina
The church is most representative of Barranquilla, one of the stalwarts of the Christian faith. The masterpiece has several special items that are considered attractive by themselves: the great sculptural work from maestro Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt, a 16-ton monument in honor of Christ the Liberator Latin, the two large mosaics of St. Joseph, Patron of Archdiocese of Barranquilla, and Maria Reina, head of the Metropolitan Cathedral, the giant stained glass, faithful representation of creation and the sacraments of the Catholic Church, and the main altar in the back covered with the representation of the universe freed by Christ: man, nature, the stars and the Word of God.

Barranquijazz
The Colombian Caribbean has one of the most important jazz events in the international arena. Held every year since 1997, in the second week of September it has become the most important musical and cultural expressions in the city and one of the Caribbean youth festivals with more global projection.
